Portrait of Shondale, founder of Envy Decor

The chronology

From a gift to a creative house.

  1. Preteen beginnings

Shondale started young. Braiding hair for family, helping in the kitchen, and setting up celebrations before anyone called it a business. Creativity was simply how he showed up for people.

  2. Church community

Church was the first place his work was tested at scale — programs, anniversaries, repasses, and gatherings where the food had to be right and the room had to feel like care.

  3. Local business connections

Neighborhood shops and small businesses became clients and collaborators. Chicago's West Side taught him how to work fast, work clean, and stand behind what he made.

  4. Word-of-mouth growth

There was never a marketing budget. There were referrals — one satisfied client telling another, over and over, for years.

Created by hand.
Blessed by God.

  1. Loyal clientele

Clients who came for a silk press stayed for graduation décor, and later for wedding catering. Some families are now on their second generation.

  2. Three creative disciplines

Beauty, décor, and catering are not three businesses. They are three expressions of the same standard: prepared thoughtfully, presented beautifully, delivered on time.

  3. Faith and work

His faith shapes how he works more than what he says about it. Show up. Do it right. Treat people like the moment matters — because it does.

  4. The future of Envy Decor

The vision is a creative house that can grow beyond one pair of hands while keeping the same standard of care — a trained team, a real studio, and a client experience that feels personal at every step.
